Recovered historical report
The Prophet ﷺ learned that Banu Mustaliq were preparing to attack Madinah. He marched with 700 men and surprised them. They fled, and their women and children were captured. Among them was Juwairiyyah, the daughter of the chief. She was freed and married the Prophet ﷺ, leading to the release of 100 of her relatives. On the return journey, ‘A’ishah (the Prophet’s wife) was accidentally left behind. Safwan bin al-Mu‘attal found her and brought her back. The hypocrites spread slander that she had committed adultery. This was the “Incident of the Lie” (Al-Ifk). After a month, Allah revealed ‘A’ishah’s innocence in Surah al-Nur.
