Recovered historical report
The next year, 73 men and 2 women from Madinah came secretly to the Prophet ﷺ at night. Al-‘Abbas (the Prophet’s uncle, still non-Muslim) attended to ensure protection. The Prophet asked them to pledge to defend him as they would their own women and children. They agreed. Sa‘d bin ‘Ubadah said, “O Messenger of Allah, we are warriors. We will fight for you.” The pledge was for war. The Quraish later discovered the meeting but the Ansar denied it.

The Prophet ﷺ did not ask for loyalty without sacrifice. He asked them to be ready to fight. Islam requires courage.

Reminder: Al-‘Abbas was still non-Muslim but protected his nephew. Tribal loyalty had its place.
Revisit context: Family ties matter, but faith ties are stronger.
Working reflection: The Ansar said, “What will we get?” The Prophet said, “Paradise.” That was enough.
Working practical step: Ask yourself: What am I willing to sacrifice for Islam? Then take one small step toward that sacrifice.
