Recovered historical report
After the deaths of Abu Talib and Khadijah, the Prophet ﷺ went to Ta’if to seek support from the tribe of Thaqif. They rejected him cruelly. They set their slaves and children to pelt him with stones until his feet bled. Zayd bin Harithah shielded him. The Prophet ﷺ took refuge in a garden owned by two Quraishi men who, though non-Muslim, felt sympathy and sent their Christian slave ‘Addas with grapes. The Prophet said “Bismillah,” and ‘Addas recognised this as a word used by prophets. The Prophet then told him about Jonah (Yunus), and ‘Addas accepted Islam.
