Recovered historical report
A merchant from Yemen came to Makkah. Al-‘Aas bin Wa’il took his goods and refused to pay. The merchant publicly cried for justice. The clans of Quraish gathered in the house of ‘Abdullah bin Jad‘an and made a pact to protect the oppressed and uphold justice, regardless of tribe. The Prophet ﷺ, a young man, attended with his uncles. He later said, “I witnessed a pact in the house of ‘Abdullah bin Jad‘an that I would not exchange for the choicest herd. If invited to it today in Islam, I would respond.”
