Recovered historical report
The Prophet ﷺ learned that the Roman Empire was gathering a large army to attack the Muslims. He called for a general mobilisation. It was the peak of summer, the harvest season, and the journey was long and difficult. Many hypocrites made excuses to stay behind. The Prophet ﷺ led 30,000 men north to Tabuk. When they arrived, the Romans had retreated. No battle occurred. The Prophet ﷺ made peace with local Christian tribes and received their jizyah. This expedition demonstrated Muslim strength and secured the northern border.
