Recovered historical report
The Prophet ﷺ established a bond of brotherhood between the Muhajirun (immigrants from Makkah) and the Ansar (helpers of Madinah). Each Muhajir was paired with an Ansar. They became spiritual brothers, even inheriting from each other initially. Sa‘d bin Rabi‘ah (Ansar) offered half his wealth and one of his two wives to ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf (Muhajir). ‘Abdur Rahman declined, asked for directions to the market, and became wealthy within days. This brotherhood dissolved later when inheritance laws came, but the spirit remained.
